 #whsfridayfact  A whole school trip on 1st February 1901

Queen Victoria passed away on 22nd January 1901 and her coffin was transported on the Royal Yacht Alberta from her home on the Isle of Wight to Portsmouth on the 1st February.  The entire school, all wearing black and white rosettes so they could be distinguished in the crowd, caught a steam train from Brighton Station to Portsmouth.  They watched the ships arrive across the Solent, 8 torpedo destroyers followed by Alberta, which held the Queens coffin. The King and the German Emperor followed on board the ship called the Victoria and Albert.
