If you go up to the organ in chapel there is a wooden panel to the left of the organ in remembrance of Charles (Charlie) Pigot-Moodie whose family donated the case and pipes in his memory.
He was the younger of two Windlesham brothers and was at the school from 1900-04. Afterwards at Harrow and Magdalen College, Oxford. He was a keen rider and won the Varsity Grind (Oxbridge point to point race). He intended to go into law.
Already a member of Oxford's OTC, he applied for a commission within a week of the declaration of war. He became a second lieutenant in the 6th rifle Brigade but was serving on attachment to the 2nd Royal Irish
Rifles at his death.
His letters from the front are at odds with the general view of trench life: "One thing is certain—one is far happier here than one would be anywhere else—no one is 'heavy'."
His brother George visited him on January 11th 1915. Two days later, aged 24, he was sent to the trenches in place of someone who was ill and was shot in the head by a sniper at Kemmel, Belgium, where he is now buried
