Cameron Roberts (OWL’07)
After leaving Windlesham Cameron went on to Hartpury college, Gloucester to study a Sports Coaching degree coming back to Windlesham to complete his PGCE teacher training in 2016/17.
During 2017 Cameron had an opportunity to teach PE and Games at the Banda School in Kenya for a term returning to us in September of the same year and continuing his role as a trainee PE teacher at Windlesham. We are now very proud to announce that he has been offered a full time teaching post back at the Bonda School and will be starting with them this March.
In addition to training to be a teacher Cameron kept himself busy. His main hobby is rugby and he played for England’s Deaf Rugby team on 8 different occasions. Travel has also always been a big part of his world and his trips around the USA were a high light together with time in Tanzania where, over the last 6 summers, Cameron has worked for a deaf charity called Tan Zan Ear, coaching children rugby, football, reading and English.
Cameron - Some of my favourite things:
- I love Spaghetti meatballs with parmesan cheese (parmesan being the key element)
- Best TV programme, it’s got to be Friends
- Special memories from school; being made Sportsman of the Year in the ‘ones’ and playing a turkey in the play ‘Honk’ in the ‘twos’
- My most inspirational person is Hamish Cameron, my older brother by 4 years. He is also deaf and I grew up with him never allowing this condition to stop him achieving whatever he wanted to achieve. An amazing role model for me. Hamish is now in a job he loves, a photographer and designer and I am very proud to be his little brother.
