Simon Hallam: Grenfell Housemaster

Simon Hallam is currently the Housemaster of Grenfell, but his connection to Windlesham goes right back into the 1980s when he was a small boy.
His father Peter was Head of Geography and they moved here as a family in 1989 with his mother Vanessa and his brother Matthew. In fact Mr Hallam lives in exactly the same house now as he did as a child!
Mr Hallam has also moved around the houses at school. His parents were house parents of Hunt and as a child was a member of Bader. When he first returned to school he was a tutor in Scott and was briefly Housemaster. However he has now settled in Grenfell and dons the pink mantle with great aplomb.
Mr Hallam also spent an eventful year as a gappy from 2000 -1, where he put his dancing and acting talents to good use in a Spice Girls routine! He also suffered a sporting injury whilst playing rounders in a highly competitive staff team.
Mr Hallam re-joined Windlesham after a spell of teaching at Dorset House, bringing with him his lovely wife
Lucy and subsequently two children James and Poppy. They started their new life at WHS as Boys’ Boarding Heads and remained in this role for 2 years, then moving into his childhood home in Cowdown.
Mr Hallam now has the title of Senior Master : he has a myriad of roles : from staff welfare to taking care of the junior teachers as they arrive fresh faced off the plane and turning them into the confident young people we send back to their parents.  He also is the arranger of staff parties and often takes on the mantel of Master of Ceremonies.
Mr Hallam has a passion for all things badger  and is a famous badger-phile.  In fact his ambition is to be a protector of badgers from the current culling .
Simon has been associated with WHS for 30 years , one of the longest associations with school on the staff.
